Youth Lagoon Drops New Track “Football” Along With 7″ Vinyl Limited To 300

Earlier this morning on January 4th, 2024 Trevor Powers’ released a brand new track under his Youth Lagoon project titled Football. The new song thematically and stylistically ties in with the whole of Youth Lagoon’s Heaven Is A Junkyard which saw release and warm reception in early June of 2023.

The new track is written and performed by Trevor Powers while being produced and mixed by Rodaidh McDonald who is well known for his work with Beck, The xx, Parquet Courts – among many others stalwarts. Youth Lagoon originally returned with the full length Heaven Is A Junkyard after a seven year hiatus on use of the project for music production by Powers, prompted by a severe medical complication.

Football is available as a very limited release on Youth Lagoon’s bandcamp as a 7″ with just 300 copies available. Side B contains the track House For Lucy as a physical only release.

The new track follows the mantra of Heaven Is A Junkyard in carrying on a compelling storytelling back-dropped by a woozy laid back experimentation with indie pop and whirring notes that hearken back to Youth Lagoon’s early experimentation with psychedelia. Heaven Is A Junkyard has seen great success since release, making many year end lists from Pitchfork to XMU.
