She’s Green – Chrysalis Review

Minneapolis based dream pop stalwarts She’s Green released their Chrysalis extended play on Friday August 15th, 2025. The five track effort is an ethereal love letter to visceral dream pop and the dreamy side of shoegaze overall, pulling the listener in instantly with angelic-like and otherworldly vocals courtesy of Zofia Smith.

Graze opens up the piece immediately with a somber and whirling tempo, greeting the listener with cryptic lyricism that pushes poetic execution to a haunting edge. Nothing short of bittersweet, Graze contrasts starkly like a warm sonic blanket for the ears on the backdrop of icy existential themes.

Willow picks up the pace with the track’s bright optimism and pronounced drums which are set at the forefront at the onset, pulling the listener into the creative set She’s Green has so perfectly crafted. Willow does not shy away from painting themes of change and rebirth.

Figurines feels more minimal than the rest of the effort, stripping down instrumentation to their essential reverb soaked pleasures. The overall picture presented here is not quite a dirge, but seems to not shy away from themes of relational complications and exploring hidden meanings behind them. As the piece concludes with such a beautiful backdrop of creative energy and swirling guitars one would be remissed for mistaking this as a closer.

Silhouette unapologetically touches upon romantic themes with the sonic backdrop of Smith’s heavenly vocal work while Little Birds gives room for the quintet to craft another decidedly fuzzy sonic treat that trails off in the most pleasing and delightful ways. The build up on Silhouette comes to a climactic conclusion as the real closer for this wonderful effort.

She’s Green last released their Wisteria extended play in June of 2023. Overall Chrysalis offers itself as an engaging and provoking follow-up a few short years later. Chrysalis has not yet been pressed, but She’s Green’s previous effort has been so there is still reason to believe that it may be. It is advised to keep an eye on the band’s webstore for future updates.
