Auckland’s power pop quartet The Beths shared their new single Straight Line Was a Lie to social media and streaming platforms on Monday August 25th, 2025. The new track dropped ahead of their fourth full-length studio album of the same name. The much anticipated album Straight Line Was a Lie is expected to debut this Friday on August 29th, 2025.

The new drop comes after the band previously shared the singles No Joy, Metal and Mother, Pray for Me. The brand new title track will act as the opener for the ten track album. The Beths last released their critically acclaimed third full length Expert in a Dying Field in September of 2022. The fresh single Straight Line Was a Lie is gleaming with the upbeat optimism the band has become known for, standing in contrast to substantive lyrical themes of struggle and discovery.
