New & Notable: Indie Releases For Friday January 12th, 2024
Every Friday we listen to the most impactful drops in the indie and alternative scenes around and share them for our readers. While these aren’t full reviews, they’re meant to encapsulate notable albums in brief for you.
Vacations – No Place Like Home
Newcastle, Australia’s Vacations deliver a compelling indie pop full length that often flirts with the jangle pop world. Camble Burns’ vocals offer a laid back but defined realm of tone on a backdrop of easygoing tempo on most tracks. Much of the album builds on the set of strong singles like Terms & Conditions and Midwest.
Midi Memory – Far Gone And Out
Orlando’s Midi Memory executes an ethereal atmosphere on this debut effort. The new album captures a chamber of vocals and instrumentation that sits firmly in the dream pop world while embracing graceful post punk synthesizers throughout. This debut has us keeping an eye on what’s in store for Midi Memory in the future.
The Vaccines – Pick-Up Full Of Pink Carnations
London’s The Vaccines picks up the pace with the inspiring and energetic indie rock singles Heartbreak Kid and Sometimes, I Swear. The album is peppered with invigorating anthems that pick apart and analyze the traditional American dream and its decline.
Hoorsees – Big
French indie pop band Hoorsees has supplied listeners with a series of infectious, innovative and diverse tracks with their new release Big. The new album is their third full length to date and pulls more deeply from their french roots without fully abandoning indie rock influences such as Pavement and early Weezer.
