Tame Impala Drops Music Video For New Song “Loser” Off Fifth Studio Album “Deadbeat”

Psychedelic pop icon Tame Impala premiered the music video for the brand new song Loser on Wednesday September 3rd, 2025. The new music video stars Joe Keery and outlines a saga of both struggle and living low through hardship. Not unlike previous Tame Impala music videos the piece is largely inspired to tell a story in the form of a short film and does so extremely well.

I had to tell ya, it’s now or never
So much for closure, I lost composure

Kevin Parker’s lyrics on this piece indicate a callback to Currents at the beginning of the song. More specifically the track The Less I Know The Better – perhaps signalling a return to previous form or simply a nod to his work as it is roughly a decade out now. Much of the track thematically feels like an acknowledgement of struggle in the face of adversity.

The new single Loser will act as the fourth track on the forthcoming fifth studio album Deadbeat. The new album is scheduled for an October 17th release date and is available at this time for pre-order on an exclusive bluejay blue vinyl on the Tame Impala webstore. Tame Impala previously released the song End of Summer back in July of this year, with the last album The Slow Rush dropping back in February of 2020. End of Summer will act as the closer for the upcoming album.

The riveting new video was directed by Sam Kristofski and offers itself up as a worthy companion for such a wonderful track which does sound very much like it could have found a home on Currents.
